if there's one thing that makes me crazy about my job at your local crappy corporate "art" school, it's people's complete lack of common sense and personal responsibility. you would think i work at a grammar school with the phone calls and voicemails i get.
i have had three students since 8am call to tell me they are sick today and can't make it to class. note: THIS IS COLLEGE. no one gives a fuck if you are in class or not, especially some administrative assistant. if you aren't coming, fucking deal with it on your own. there are no doctor's notes and excused absences in college. why? because you are an ADULT. maybe you act like one, email your damn instructors, and make up the missed work on your own time. but most importantly, don't call me. i'm not going to call your teachers and tell them. that's your job. maybe you take some goddamn responsibility and handle your own business.
sometimes i do find personal heroes here at work.

Please remove me from both of my online classes as soon as possible. As you may recall from our phone conversation on February 21, 2007, I am not pleased. I did not realize either how deceptful or just plain unorganized your institution actually is. I am still extremely frustrated, as you picked up on earlier today. I did not realize it was your policy to notify students of scholarships they thought they were qualified for and going to receive, that they (the student) were in fact not eligible for it in the first place. It's not until after it becomes too late to find other means to pay for the class, you foot your students with a bill for classes they can no longer afford. I believe it is an unethical way of practicing your institution. Also, it would be extremely helpful to other students that advisors, etc, checked and deleted their voicemails to allow others to place voicemails to voice concerns. This happened to me numerous times over the past couple of weeks, which I do apologize for not mentioning earlier.
Oh please do not worry about your precious tuition, that I apparently still owe, although had I been eligible for the merit scholarship, as I was told, the tuition would have been covered. You will eventually receive it, over many, many months, and small payments.

while i realize deceptful is not a word...please realize this is an 'art' school....so words like deceitful you know...don't exist.
but this student is my hero of the day. for calling the school out about lying to its students on a daily basis...withholding information from them...and running an institution on a premise of generating profit and not education. i applaud you. strongly.
